Objection:  Our company doesn?t really (delete:  really) have customers in this area.  Response: Many of our members primarily serve non-local customers. But (REPLACE WITH However\, )our members draw from a local labor pool\, move products and people on our local  (possibly a better word would be regional?)transportation network\, pay taxes to local and state government\, and realize the business community collectively has a role in solving local challenges. Where their customers are located is not at the top of the list of reasons to be an FJI supporter.  2.    Objection:  FJI is a downtown-focused organization that only supports downtown businesses. Response:  We do focus some of our energy on revitalizing our downtown\, (remove: comma) because a strong (I would replace strong with active or healthy) downtown ( or: city center) will lead to prosperity all over the community.  However\, we have members from all over the city and all over Rock County.  We support small and large businesses that have an impact and that bring prosperity to every part of Rock County and south-central Wisconsin\, regardless of where that business is located.  3.    Objection:  FJI is an ?old boys club?. (period inside quotes) Response:  With a very diverse board of directors\, nearly 50 percent are female\, we have a (remove: a) representation from all businesses ? small and large.  We also support efforts to bring diversity to the community\; one of our executives serves on the Janesville Multicultural Teacher Scholarship Board of Directors.  We also support rising professionals in the community through our work on behalf of Join Janesville\, a newly founded young professionals? group.  4.    Objection:  A lot of the work that FJI does (supporting the Interstate expansion\, increased transportation funding\, school referendums\, etc. (etc is not a good way to present an arguement (should be: argument).  Should say to name a few or something along that line) doesn?t benefit my business. Response:  Our state-of-the-art infrastructure will make Janesville and Rock County a more attractive destination for businesses and residents.  These types of investments will solidify our area?s economy for years to come\, and the resulting economic activity will benefit all area businesses.  5.    Objection:  FJI is a clique-y (can we find a better word?) organization where everyone knows each other.  I went to a Business After Five (add: comma\, ) once an no one spoke to me. Response:  If you are willing to put forth a little effort\, you can connect with dozens of area professionals through your membership.  We host speed networking events every quarter where you are guaranteed to walk away with a dozen or more new business contacts.  Any of our Ambassadors(add: comma) as well as the FJI staff (add: comma) are always glad to help facilitate networking by introducing you to their colleagues during our events ? all you must do is ask!  Our events are (remove: all) all about building relationships.  If you are not comfortable speaking to people that you don?t know\, perhaps you can bring a guest who can help you with this or send another representative from your organization who is more comfortable in this setting.  6.    Objection:  I was a member a few years ago add: (comma) and I didn?t get any business out of my membership. Response:  We do hundreds of referrals out of our office\; however\, we cannot guarantee that any given customer will tell you that they chose your organization because we referred them.  We do recommend that you ?use? your membership to establish relationships by participating in our networking events and through targeted marketing to our other members.  There are dozens of ways to get the word out about your business to our members\; FJI staff can recommend all sorts of options for you.  7.    Objection:  The work that FJI does benefits me (add: comma) whether I am a member or not. Response:  While it is true that the work we do benefits the community\, we need buy-in from area businesses to take our efforts to the next level.  Your membership gives (I would replace with: allows) you an opportunity to be a part of numerous exclusive committees and councils that do make a difference in the community ? you will have ?a seat at the table?. (period inside quotes)    8.    Objection:  My business isn?t (is not) located in Janesville. Response:  While your business may not be located in Janesville\, you very well (add: might) be utilizing labor\, resources\, equipment(comma) and many items that are from this community.  Your membership allows you to be a voice for change and growth within our community(add: comma)  which can directly affect your business.  9.     Objection:  We don?t make the decision here locally. Response:  We can appreciate that the decision may not be made at your location\; therefore\, can you provide us with a name and contact information for the person who does make this decision?
